Desiree Pettway
Branch President
Desiree Pettway is the Branch President of the Greensboro Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) in North Carolina where she represents 351 Mail Handlers, almost 300 are union members.
Desiree has worked for the Postal Service for almost 30 years and has been a Union member for all of that time. She has been a Union Representative for approximately 18 years, serving as Chief Steward for many years before being elected Branch President. Her responsibilities include but are not limited to organizing new members, policing and enforcing the Collective Bargaining Agreement by filing grievances, keeping a strong line of communication with the members and holding Branch meetings. Desiree is also responsible for attending Labor-Management and Safety meetings to ensure compliance from Management on all issues relevant to the Mail Handler craft.
It is Desiree's belief that the Union's fight should not be against one another. When the members come together with one voice, one purpose, one vision, there is no obstacle too great, no challenge too difficult. She also believes that the Union's strength lies in solidarity - in knowing that each of us stands not alone, but shoulder to shoulder with fellow union members. Division only serves those who wish to weaken the members' rights, the members' power, and the members' future.
