JaKeisha Parker
Branch President
JaKeisha Parker is the Branch President of the Norfolk Local Processing Center (LPC) and the Norfolk Sorting and Distribution Center (S&DC) in Virginia where there are approximately 124 Mail Handlers.
Jakeisha has been employed with the Postal Service for 10 years and has been a Union member for six years. She has been a Union representative for four years. During those four years, JaKeisha has also served the Union as an Alternate Steward, Shop Steward, and Chief Steward. As Branch President, JaKeisha's responsibilities begin with her being a vital leader to the Mail Handlers in her facilities. She ensures that Management complies with the National Agreement while also advocating for those Mail Handlers who feel as if their voices are not heard. She oversees the Steward in her facilities guaranteeing they are educated and knowledgeable in their representation of the craft by following the Bylaws of the Local and the Constitution.
JaKeisha believes that this Union does not just consist of the Local President, Executive Board, Branch Presidents, and Stewards, but also includes "self." There is strength in numbers, the more knowledge the membership has the stronger the unit will be. The Union is a voice for the voiceless and is a place to protect the rights that not all are aware or knowledgeable of.
