A central tenet of my belief as a union representative is the indomitable power of solidarity. It is the fundamental truth that while a single individual's plea for justice or fairness can be easily overlooked, a collective chorus of voices speaking as one becomes an unignorable force.

A union is not an external entity; it is a meticulously built and constantly fortified vehicle for its members—the very people who drive its purpose. It is the means through which you can collectively demand and secure equitable wages, safer workplaces, and the fundamental respect that is your right.

Marvin Simpson

Virginia State Representative

Marvin Simpson is the State Representative of Virginia for Local 305, where he performs such duties as assigned by the Local President for the state of Virginia. Marvin has worked for the Postal Service for approximately 29 years and has been a Mail Handler Union member for 27 years.

Marvin became a Union Representative approximately 15 years ago and during those years he has served the local in a number of capacities, Shop Steward, Judge of Elections, Branch President, and currently is an Arbitration Advocate, Contract Attack Team Member, Local 305 Trainer, and a member of the Local 305 Task Force.

Marvin believes that overall, the Union's purpose is to help people, assist them at their most vulnerable moments. Without a Union, employees would not be treated fairly and with equality.
