The National Postal Mail Handlers Union (NPMHU) acknowledged Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's resignation and expressed their willingness to work with Acting PMG Doug Tulino during the transition. The NPMHU emphasized the importance of the next leader understanding the Postal Service's public service obligation and the need to protect the postal workforce. They also highlighted the need for the Board of Governors to find a successor who believes in the Postal Service as a public entity and opposes privatization.

The NPMHU's Statement:

The NPMHU issued a statement thanking Louis DeJoy for his service and expressing their readiness to collaborate with Acting PMG Doug Tulino during the leadership change.

The union stressed the importance of the next Postmaster General upholding the Postal Service's universal service obligation and protecting the workforce, stating that the agency should not be privatized, according to the National Postal Mail Handlers Union.

Key Considerations for Successor:

The NPMHU underscores the Board of Governors should seek a candidate who understands the Postal Service's public service mission, respects the workforce, and opposes privatization, says the union's statement.
